Nestled in the heart of Danville, Melo's Pizza & Pasta offers an inviting blend of Southern Italian and Californian flavors that delight both casual diners and devoted food lovers alike. This charming eatery at 664 San Ramon Valley Blvd expertly crafts traditional Italian recipes with a fresh, local twist, bringing a genuine taste of Italy to the Bay Area.
Step inside, and you’ll immediately notice the warm yet classy atmosphere, striking a perfect balance between a cozy neighborhood spot and an elevated dining experience. Whether you're settling in for a relaxed dinner with friends or grabbing takeaway for a laid-back evening, Melo’s makes you feel right at home.
The menu is a treasure trove of Italian favorites with highlights that truly showcase their passion for authentic cuisine. Start with the Burrata Bruschetta, an unexpected harmony of creamy burrata, chili-infused honey, and dry fruits that surprisingly tastes more like a luxurious dessert than an appetizer. For pizza lovers, the Honey Sausage Pizza and the Small Whole Combo Meatball Pie, topped with ricotta, garlic, basil, and diced tomatoes, stand out with their generous toppings and perfectly crafted thick crust—a delightful surprise that’s both hearty and flavorful.
Seafood aficionados will savor the Linguine Pescatora, a rich medley of fresh seafood bathed in a garlic, white wine, and tomato sauce that sings with every bite, while pasta aficionados will find comfort in the delicate Cheese Ravioli Emiliana, enveloped in a velvety tomato and cream sauce, elevated by imported Grana Padano cheese. The Chicken Parmigiana impresses with layers of tender chicken, melted cheese, and vibrant tomato sauce, albeit with a touch more richness to satisfy any craving for indulgence.
For a lighter option that doesn't compromise on flavor, the BBQ Chicken Chop Salad adds a smoky twist to a classic, and the Chicken Parm Sandwich offers a handheld taste of Italy, perfect for lunch or a casual bite. Sides such as the garlicky bread and homemade soups, like the comforting Tomato Basil Soup, complement any meal wonderfully.
Several guests have noted the balance between quantity and quality, emphasizing portion sizes that feel generous without sacrificing taste. Although a few dishes lean towards being richer or milder than expected, the overall menu diversity ensures satisfaction for varied palates. Service is friendly and attentive, contributing to a communal and unpretentious vibe that enhances the dining experience.
Outdoor seating with cozy heaters adds to Melo’s appeal, especially on cooler evenings, as one guest fondly remarked on how that setting elevated their meal. Though drinks like iced tea might benefit from a touch more sweetness, this minor detail doesn’t detract from the overall charm of the venue.
In sum, Melo's Pizza & Pasta is a standout choice in Danville for those craving authentic Southern Italian fare with a California influence. Its ability to surprise with hearty, flavorful pizzas and thoughtfully prepared pasta dishes, combined with a warm, inviting environment, makes it a go-to destination for locals and visitors seeking a genuine Italian dining experience. Whether it’s a casual dinner with friends or a takeout indulgence, Melo’s delivers consistently satisfying meals that invite you to come back for more.
A good place for a simple dinner with friends. The chicken wings and brussel sprouts were ok. The chicken pasta was tasty but very greasy. The pizza is a surprise - thick crust with lots of ingredients, which is pretty good.
I haven't been to Melo's in years. Place was packed on a random Wednesday night. Great selection of food and beer. I ordered the Chicken Parm Sandwich. Others ordered the Eggplant Parm Sandy and the Spaghettini al Pamodoro with Shrimp. Was really looking forward to it, unfortunately we all said basically the same thing...was good but not great. Basically tasted rather bland. The sauce for the Spaghettini tasted simply like tomato sauce with no spices. I could say the same for the Chicken Parm, but that had some yummy cheese...still had to dress it up with some red pepper flakes. Not saying I won't go there again, b/c I'm sure it was just an off day and they are worth another try. On the plus side the Garlic Fries were legit.
I love getting take-out from this place. The pizza is always delish. I end up eating way too much of it.
It was really good because we were sitting outside with a heater on. The ice tea could improve though, no sugar.
A good Italian restaurant in Danville. Much classier inside than what it looks from outside. Service is OK. Did is very good - in both taste, quality and quantity. They're bruschetta is way different from what I had seen other places. Chilli induced honey with dry fruits make it feel like a dessert than an appetizer. The pizza is well done and as described. The parmesan is well cooked and good quantity and easily shareable. The place can use an upgrade at least in terms of seats and booths. You may notice how rundown the seats are at places. For the prices we pay, they should be able to afford that easily.
This is the best pizza spot in Danville and the surrounding area! I have to come here every week for my favorite Funghi pizza. The place is cozy, the food is always fresh and delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. The pizza and pasta are absolutely amazing! Stephanie, Brooke, Dru, Noah, and the rest of the team are always welcoming and serve with a smile. BTW don't forget to test the Tiramusu, it is so delicious, I highly recommend. My usual order is mediterian salad, pungi pizza, and Toramisu. You will be addicted to it like me !
Nov 4th 2024 Decent spot for a quick bite - dine in is a better option tbh Kids meals were good option sizes and tasty Our pizza was tasty ( thin crust) the dough could’ve been a little thicker - we will be back to try something new P.s - the garlic fries are super tasty Tuesday night meal Oct 2023 Good experience & kid friendly
We had a lovely experience here! Great and tasty selection of appetizers, pizza, and pasta. Our server was wonderful, she told us it was her first day out of training! We ordered the vodka rigatoni, pork sausage rigatoni, and pasta with red clam sauce as entrees and the fried spaghetti and meatballs as appetizers.
